Tickets For Super Bowl 2011
When the AFL and NFL agreed that they might merge into a single league in 1971, they also agreed to start enjoying a championship game after the 1966 season.
Formally known as the AFL-NFL Championship, it was soon turned into informally referred to as the Super Bowl. That nickname came from the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs and one of the crucial founders of the AFL, Lamar Hunt. He told newshounds on July 1966, "I think one of the crucial first things we're going to consider is the web page of the Super Bowl -- that is my term for the championship game." Later, Hunt said that the identify came to him after he saw his daughter taking part in with an excellent ball.
The Super Bowl identify didn't develop into official till the 3rd game. Since the merger, the Super Bowl has been the NFL championship game, performed among the NFC and AFC champions, who emerge from a spherical of playoffs.
It's intended to be the climax of the season, but if truth be told the Super Bowl has all too continuously been anti-climactic. The reasonable margin of victory has been about 14 points, smartly above the typical for a regular-season NFL game, and there have been a lot of blowouts. The convention championship video games have usually been extra fascinating to watch.
Nevertheless, the sport has develop into an enormous national event, almost certainly the nation's prime wearing event. After two weeks of intensive media hype, it attracts millions ot tv viewers, lots of whom wouldn't think of gazing another soccer game, and the choice of Super Bowl events is almost certainly handed simplest by means of the choice of New Years Eve parties.
The Super Bowl is the perennial ratings chief among all televised sports events and, on the listing of the fifty most advantageous TV broadcasts, the sport seems twenty times.
The first Super Bowl, though, among the NFL's Green Bay Packers and the AFL's Kansas City Chiefs, wasn't so eagerly anticipated. The primary query appeared to be how massive Green Bay's margin of victory would be. Tickets cost simplest $12, and the sport nonetheless wasn't a sellout.
The Packers won that game, 35-10, they usually also won Super Bowl II, 33-14 over the Oakland Raiders. But whilst Joe Namath guaranteed victory for the AFL's underdog New York Jets in Super Bowl III after which brought a 16-7 win over the Baltimore Colts, hobby rose, especially with the upcoming merger of the 2 leagues.
Kansas City's win in Super Bowl IV evened the collection among the AFL and NFL. After the merger, the AFC gained 9 of the next eleven. That report was skewed somewhat, though, by means of the fact that former NFL teams accounted for five of the victories. Since Super Bowl XVI, after the 1981 season, the NFC had received fifteen of sixteen games, 13 in a row, sooner than the Denver Broncos beat the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXII.
As end result of the the playoff gadget and the Super Bowl, the NFL season now stretches from 12 months into the next, which may also be mildly confusing. The group that wins the 1998 Super Bowl, for example, will likely be topped the 1997 NFL champions.

Six Simple Steps to Improve Your Golf Swing Mechanics
The golf swing is made up of various parts which we put together into one big movement - the swing. Great golf swing mechanics are essential if you want to build a really great and consistent swing. If you spend some time working on your swing mechanics you will see a real improvement in your swing.
In this article I'm going to break your golf swing down into parts and then I'm going to work on each part of your golf swing mechanics, so that you build a great swing. I want to give you a good understanding of what position you and your club should be in throughout the swing.
Step One: Address
At address you should have the correct grip, posture and stance. It's important that you are correctly aligned. Firstly your clubhead should be square behind the ball and aimed directly at your target. Secondly your body, so your hips, shoulders and your feet should all be parallel to your target line - the imaginary line which runs from your ball to your target.
Step Two: Takeaway
On the takeaway you want to ensure that you bring the club back very smoothly. In order to do this the takeaway needs to begin by rotating the body and moving the arms back. This should be a nice simultaneous "one piece" takeaway. Begin to transfer your weight to your back foot as you start this rotation. It's important that you don't start the takeaway with the arms, if you do it will cause you to 'pick the club up' sharply rather than 'sweeping' it back.
Step Three: Middle of the Backswing
As you bring the club back your left arm (lead arm) should remain straight whilst your right arm begins to bend at the elbow. The mid point of the backswing should be around when the clubs shaft is parallel to the ground, at this point the toe of the clubface should be at about 12 o'clock pointing directly up towards the sky. This ensures that you have a square clubface position.
Step Four: Top of the Backswing
From the mid-point of the backswing the body should continue its rotation back and continue to transfer your weight onto your back foot. On the backswing the hips complete their rotation before the shoulders. The shoulders continue their rotation around your spine until your back faces the target at the top of the backswing. At this position your left shoulder is almost where your right shoulder was at address.
At the top of the backswing 75% of your weight should be on your back foot and 25% should be on the front foot. At the top of the backswing the shaft of the club should be parallel to the ground and point at your target. The clubface should be toe-down.
Step Five: Downswing
On the downswing, rotation begins with your hips and legs, followed by the shoulders, this slight separation between the upper body and the lower body as you start the downswing creates torque which is great for boosting your swing power. The lower body - the hips and legs, should begin the downswing. The downswing is all about shifting that weight from the back foot to your front foot, towards your target.

Funny Don'ts & Do's With Pool Sticks
Pool sticks were made for just that…shooting pool. And that means using pool sticks to correctly hit billiard balls on a pool table, not for javelin-throwing in the swimming pool. I have to admit that as a kid, I occasionally used my pool stick for things other than the intended use. Even though using it as a limbo stick wasn’t necessarily harmful to the stick, using it as a sword was. Take some tips from a long-time billiard player who has learned some important do’s & don’ts the hard way, and learn some important tips along the way.
Even though you can make nice chalk designs on the ceiling, don’t. The tip of a pool stick is made of leather and is attached to the shaft of the stick with a ferrule. These are tender spots on a cue stick and should not be used to come in contact with anything other than chalk or a billiard ball. If the rounded leather tip loses its shape or is transformed into the all too common "mushroom", your shots will be less consistent and it will severely affect your play.
I know of a pool stick that was left outside for a day or two after an exhausting duel. This is really bad. Your pool stick should be stored indoors, upright in a case. Exposure of the elements (sun & moisture) can be fatal. Both the shaft and butt of a billiard cue are made of wood and can warp. If that happens, it cannot be fixed and you may as well use it as firewood where it will serve you better.
If your cue stick is wrapped, don’t peel the wrapping like you would a Budweiser label. Wraps are put there for a reason. They give you a firm, comfortable grip on your cue stick and prevent your hand from slipping when you strike a billiard ball.
Lastly, don’t bounce your cue stick to the beat of the music (or off your competitor’s forehead). The rubber piece on the end of the butt is called a bumper. The bumper is put there to protect the cue stick when it accidentally bumps a wall or the table, or when it rests on the ground. The bumper adds to the precise weight of the billiard cue and should not become loosened. Repetitive impacts to the bumper can also cause the butt to eventually crack.
Take my advice and value your pool stick. If you do, it will perform for you every time. Don’t twirl it like a baton, use it to poke a bear, or use it to pick your nose. There are other instruments for those things. Your cue stick’s health and maintenance are vital in playing your best game.

MLB Tryouts—Chasing the Major League Dream
So you want to give professional baseball a shot? An MLB tryout might be a good place to start. But before you show up, it will greatly benefit you to learn exactly what you can expect to encounter on MLB tryout day.
MLB tryouts are usually slated to start at 9:00 AM, but hopefuls are asked to show up a half hour early. When you get to the park, the first order of business is completing a registration card. You’ll find a number on this card, based on your position; for example, pitchers might be numbered 101, 102, 103, etc. That number is how you will be addressed and identified for the rest of the day.
You'll be asked to tryout at only one position, even if you typically pitch as well as play the field. However, the scouts may allow you a shot on the mound later on if you display the potential to generate some big league gas when showing off your arm in the field. Once everyone is registered, it’s time for position players to show the scouts their wheels. The MLB tryout begins!
A baseball player’s speed is measured via the 60 yard dash. This is run on a makeshift track marked off in the outfield with cones. Two scouts man the finish line with stopwatches and clipboards, as two players are called to the line to run. Each heat typically starts with a drop of the hat. If a guy puts up a great time, he may be asked to run again to prove that the time was legit.
The importance of the 60 at an MLB tryout cannot be understated. The time a player puts up at the beginning of the workout may dictate whether or not he’s even taken seriously for the remainder of the day. That’s a bit of a downer, I know, but it’s the reality. In the eyes of scouts, other skills can be taught if the potential is there; speed is something you’re born with. If an outfielder or middle infielder doesn’t run 7.0 seconds or better, he’ll have to hit/throw extremely well to receive any type of consideration from a scout at an MLB tryout.
After all players have run, everyone is given time to loosen up their arms before showing them off in the field. In most cases, outfielder line up in right field in between a pair of cones. A scout hits easy fungoes, as each player unleashes a few throws to both third and home. They aim for a cut-off man, who lets each throw go so the scouts can gauge trajectory and life off the turf. They look for the ball to stay straight, on an even plane, and take one lively bounce before reaching the target.
Middle infielders and third basemen then field a few ground balls in the hole at deep shortstop. Scouts watch closely as each player uncorks a few throws over to first, looking for the same characteristics (minus the bounce) as those from the outfielders. While scouts will look at fielding ability, body control, footwork and hands, the throwing arm is what is primarily evaluated here. First basemen get to throw a few across the diamond at an MLB tryout as well, but arm strength means little to scouts at this position. First basemen are called on to carry a big stick first and foremost. But if one of these guys shows a big arm, he may project at another position.
Catchers then get their turn in the spotlight. For catchers, an MLB tryout is all about "pop time." A scout clicks his stopwatch as a catcher receives a pitch, then—as the catcher simulates a steal situation to second—stops it when the ball reaches the target’s glove at second. The goal here is 2.0 seconds or better.
After the arms have been evaluated in the field at an MLB tryout, a cut is usually made. The scouts get together and decide which players they will keep for the next phase of the tryout. For those that don’t hear their numbers called at this point, the workout is over.
Those that are invited to stay get the chance to field their positions, as the scouts more closely evaluate defensive skills. Batting practice typically follows, so the scouts can analyze the mechanics of each player’s swing, along with each athlete’s power potential. From there, the roster is slashed once again to include only those that will stay to hit live pitching.
So now you know what you’re in for as a position player at an MLB tryout. If you’re a ballplayer that hopes to break into the pros, there are many avenues you can pursue to try to make this happen. There is a whole lot of WORLDWIDE opportunity available today, both inside and outside the umbrella of Major League Baseball. That said, a solid showing at an MLB tryout could get you on the radar, and put you on the road towards a pro career. Knowing what you’re in for on tryout day is the first step towards living the dream.

In-Ground Basketball Hoop Installation
Mounted, portable, and in-ground basketball hoops all have pros and cons. For instance, while the in-ground hoops are considered to be optimal as far as performance is concerned, the one downside is the time and effort required to install it. Some prefer portable hoops simply because no installation is required. Mounted hoops involve some installation, but it's not nearly as extensive as in-ground models.
One positive with in-ground installations is that it only has to be done once. You will have to buy quite a bit of cement and put some work in digging a hole, but the result will be a hoop that will provide very good stability.
Another benefit of installations is that family and friends can work on it together. Most hoops need 2-3 people at minimum in order to assemble and install the hoop. For families, this is a chance to spend some time together and complete a fun project. I read an article just recently about a father's experience installing and assembling the hoop with his sons. He mentioned that the experience with the hoop was already a positive one just because of that experience alone.
The installation required varies based on the hoop you buy. The lower to mid level hoops mainly are direct burials. The pole is buried into the ground directly and secured with cement.
This is the most common type for basketball hoops. It's really a simple process, as it involves digging a hole several feet deep and solidifying the pole in place with concrete. The key is to make sure that the rim is at 10 feet and that the pole is straight. Setting the pole on top of a few bricks will add some stability. Using levels will help prevent the pole from leaning to the left or right.
Another form of installation involves cementing a sleeve into the ground, then inserting the pole into it. It's advantageous because it's more removeable than the direct burial, plus it's a bit easier to get it aligned properly. The sleeve has markings to ensure that the pole height is 10 feet.
The last type is the most advanced and preferred. It's only reserved however for premium models. It's referred to as an anchor mount installation. 4 j-bolts and a mount and inserted into the cement, then the pole is set in place on the mount. The benefit is that you can remove the hoop from the mount without digging up cement.
The anchor mount is the best type, which makes sense considering the fact that all the premium hoops use it. If you can afford a basketball hoop that comes with an anchor mount, I highly recommend it.

Why Full-Court Press in High School Basketball?
Whether or not to use a full-court press in high school basketball can be a difficult decision for a coach. Are my players athletic enough? Are we disciplined enough to run a full-court press? Do we have the bench depth? All these questions, and more, should be answered prior to implementing a pressing defense.
Perhaps the most fundamental question is why should you press? What do you hope to get out it? Other than the obvious, ‘We’re behind late in the game and we have to catch up’, the best answer would be: tempo. Full-court pressing allows you to control the tempo of the basketball game.
I have found, in high school basketball, getting the opposing team out of their ‘comfort zone’ when it comes to tempo is an important key to winning. By using a full-court press—my favorite is the 2-2-1 press—you can dictate tempo. If your opponent likes to play up-tempo, use a ‘loose’ 2-2-1 press to apply token pressure to slow down the advance of the ball over half-court. Conversely, if your opponent prefers to play more deliberately, the 2-2-1 press can be used to apply intense pressure. This will speed up your opponent and get them to play at a much faster tempo. In either case, the goal is to get your opponent to play at a pace at which they are not accustomed to playing.
Another question that needs to be answered when deciding whether or not to use a full-court press is: How do you define success? Success in the full-court press is not just defined as getting the opponent to turn over the ball. While a turnover would certainly qualify as a successful outcome, the definition of success will depend largely on what type of tempo you are trying to impose.
If you are attempting to slow down the tempo of the game, forcing your opponent to use five or more seconds on the shot clock in order to get the ball over half-court could be a successful outcome. Also, in addition to using a specified amount of time to cross half-court, forcing your opponent to use an additional three to five seconds in order to initiate their offense could also be considered a successful outcome.
On the other hand, when trying to speed up the tempo of the game, getting your opponent to take a quick shot they would not otherwise attempt is a successful outcome. Getting a player on the opposing team that is not a primary scorer to take a quick shot could also be considered a success.
As you can see there are many good reasons to apply a full-court press in high school basketball, and depending on your desired outcome, there are several standards that can be applied to determine if your press is successful.
For more detailed information on full-court pressing in high school basketball, you may visit the Cougar Basketball Club (CBC) website for an excellent selection of eBooks and videos.

For more detailed information on full-court pressing in high school basketball, you may visit the Cougar Basketball Club (CBC) website for an excellent selection of eBooks and videos.

Horse Racing Betting - October'S Uk Horse Racing Action With Tips From Malcolm Heyhoe
The first Sunday in October can mean only one thing and that’s Paris in the autumn for the Prix de l’Ac de Triomphe at Longchamp on October 1. Not content with staging Europe’s premier Group1 contest for middle-distance racehorses, the French racing authorities have done plenty to develop this day as a fixture to match next month’s Breeders’ Cup bonanza at Churchill Downs, Kentucky
As well as the Arc, there will be five more Group One contests on a stupendous Sunday’s action for racing fans. Knowing where to start as a punter is half-the secret to success on a busy and brilliant day.
As ever the name of French trainer Andre Fabre is the essential starting-point for trying to find the winner of the Arc. No trainer has done as supremely well in the great race as the French master, successful five times since 1992 and as concerned as ever to land a sixth Arc to his recent tally.
Fabre supplies a three-pronged attack to this year’s prize beginning with Hurricane Run, last year’s Arc hero who is sure to be thereabouts again but struggled to land a below-par renewal of the King George at Ascot in July. Perhaps this time around he will be upstaged by his hugely talented stable companion Shirocco, who has been aimed at the Longchamp spectacular all season according to connections.
Getting stronger and better with age, Shirocco should be hard to beat in the Arc especially if the ground enjoys any give in it on Arc day. Andre Fabre’s horse is at his best with cut underfoot. The same wouldn’t be true of Japanese superstar, Deep Impact, whose connections are absolutely set on winning the Arc. Whether this top-notch colt can overcome unsuitable ground, the lack of prep race and the transition to a European climate is doubtful but he clearly adds spice to a cracking contest.
The rest of the Arc card features five more Group one races with Reverence likely to take the world of beating in the Prix de l’Abbaye over the minimum trip while the possibility of a clash between Ouija Board and Alexandrova in the Prix de l’Opera is a mouth-watering prospect. Elsewhere Andre Fabre will be attempting to better his record as the leading French-based trainer with his three-year-olds of particular note. Fabre tends to target the Prix du Cadran on Arc day each season, and his leading entry should be noted.
It’s a quiet weekend after the thrills of spills of the Arc and Cambridgeshire weekend with Ascot staging the day’s premier meeting on October 7. As ever the two-year-old sprinters take centre stage in the Cornwallis Stakes and the Willie Haggas-trained Enticing could be an interesting runner in this 5f event.
Over at York there’s a traditionally insoluble afternoon of large field and tricky handicaps headed by the Coral Sprint Trophy. Given the shock results in this 6f handicap it’s no wonder that bookmakers are keen to sponsor such races. On the same card the two-year-olds add some respectability to proceedings courtesy of the Listed Rockingham Stakes and the Barry Hills-trained Captain Marvelous is name to look out for among the entries.
It’s top drawer action at Newmarket on Champions Day, October 14, with two Group 1 contests heading an afternoon of superb action. Throw in the second leg of the autumn double for good measure, stir in the Rockfel, Challenge and Darley Stakes and you have the recipe for a perfect day’s racing.
When it comes to finding the winner of the Champion Stakes, looking for something fresh isn’t a bad policy. Most of the winners of this mile and a quarter contest haven’t endured the rigours of a long hard season. That’s certainly true of Derby hero Sir Percy and Henry Cecil’s rapid improver Multi Dimensional but whether these talented three-year-olds are up to lowering the colours of the older horses is open to question.
In the Challenge Stakes John Gosden’s Sleeping Indian could well prove hard to beat while Sir Gerard can take the Darley Stakes before heading off to Dubai and the winter sun. The James Fanshawe-trained colt has been sold to Sheikh Mohammed and is almost certain to race next season in the deep blue Godolphin colours.
In the Dewhurst all eyes will be upon Jim Bolger’s Teofilo should he make this Group1 contest his last race of a scintillating two-year-old season. This terrific prospect would tackle the world of beating but in his absence the Paul Cole-trained Strategic Prince might be the one to take advantage. He isn’t in Teofilo’s class but this has been his target since a pattern success at Goodwood in early August.
The main Flat action switches to Newbury after the high-points of Champions day and John Gosden’s Broghill could be a name to note in the October Yearling Stakes on October 20, the first day of Newbury’s two-day meeting that now includes the Racing Post Trophy on October 21. Mick Channon will be hoping that Halicarnassus can build upon his big reputation in that final Group 1 prize for juveniles while Aidan O’Brien will be attempting to build upon his bright record in the race and any runners from his Ballydoyle operation should be noted.
On the same day as hosting the Racing Post Trophy, Newbury also stages the Horris Hill Stakes and Jeremy Noseda’s Ready for Spring is being primed to take this prize while in the St Simon Stakes Geoff Wragg will be hoping that Dragon Dancer can lose his maiden tag at last. It seems scarcely believable that this frustrating type almost landed the Derby back in June at 66-1.
The dying embers of the 2006 turf Flat season share the spoils at Newmarket on October 28 with jump racing at Wetherby. At the former track there’s a valuable two-year-old contest in the guise of the Zetland Stakes and any runner from the Mark Johnston squad should be heeded here while over at Wetherby Star de Mohaison would have the look of a good thing if he begins his season in the Charlie Hall Chase. Finally, some of the top two-mile chasers will be strutting their stuff in the William Hill Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter and the outcome of this grade prize will be a pointer to the pecking order amongst the two-mile titans.

Golf Bag - Choosing The Right Golf Bag
Till some years ago, the game of golf was popular mainly among a
selected few, comprising the elite class of society. Things have
changed tremendously over the last few years.
Choosing The right Golf Bag
One must consider a few things before selecting the bag that suits
him/her the best. First, one should decide if he/she wishes to walk the
course or use a cart. Although carry bags won’t be heavy, it won’t
contain as many ‘extra’ items either. A cart bag, on the other hand,
will be heavier but will include more features. Choose your golf bag
keeping in mind the room needed for the number of clubs you will
usually carry to the course. It will be even better to buy one, which
can accommodate some more clubs you may wish to add soon. See to it
that the height and the width of the bag are adequate to provide
sufficient room for your golf clubs.
You can also choose a bag having more pockets for accessories such as
water bottle holder, towel hook and even golf shoes. Check whether the
straps and handles are strong enough to hold all your equipment.
Various Gold Bag Models and
designs
You will find different models and designs. Carry bags if you prefer
the walking game. These bags are lightweight, strong and user-friendly.
There are also staff/tour bags and cart bags. Cart Bags got their name
because they are designed to be used on a Golf Cart. Carry Bag is the
best choice if you prefer to carry your own bag as you play Golf.
How do we carry the Golf bag Bag
If you have a caddie to carry your bag for you, like the pros, you do
not need to worry about the weight of your bag that much as long as it
is not too back- breakingly heavy. Golf Bag weight won't also matter
that much if you intend to ride golf cart most of the time. But if you
plan to walk around then you will definitely need a bag that is very
light in weight. Most golfers love light weight Carry Bags with stands.
Prices are important too
Before buying a Golf Bag this is
perhaps the first question you should ask yourself: "How much money am
I willing to spend on a Golf Bag?”. Just like in many other things you
can buy, the more money you spend, the more elaborate the features will
be. When buying a Golf bag
remember that the Golf Bag is not a piece of equipment directly used in
your game.

Tennis - How To Have A Winning Tennis Game In Six Simple Steps
Tennis is not a game for the weary or slow moving. Tennis is a game of quick movements that use every muscle in your body. It is difficult to become a fantastic tennis player due to several reasons including the inability to find an affordable tennis club, lessons, or players to practice against. These obstacles can impede your improvement in tennis which will make you frustrated. Before you quit tennis altogther, try these six simple steps to a winning tennis game.
First make sure you have the appropriate equipment. How old is your tennis racquet? Is it wooden? If you have a wooden tennis racquet put it away, you will definitely need a graphite racquet instead. Why? The professionals use graphite racquets because they provide more power and have a larger hitting area. This combination makes it easier to hit a winning shot. Buying a graphite racquet will not break the bank as you can find them for as little as $20.
Where should you begin to practice your tennis skills? Find a hitting wall or board to hit against. You can usually find these walls at public tennis courts or you can even create one at your home with a large wooden board. These walls have a limited height and width so they teach you to be accurate with your shots. Strive to hit 8-10 balls in a row. When you improve your accuracy and consistency you are ready to hit the tennis court.
In tennis you must have "happy feet". Happy feet are feet that are always moving. Tennis requires you to be quick and light on your feet as you move in several directions. Finding yourself in the wrong position is common. Don't let this happen to you. Keep your feet going so you can be ready for any shot. Learn to anticipate your opponent's shots.
Learn to use a one-handed backhand. A two-handed backhand does generate more power but it is very limited. It takes longer to get into position using a two-handed backhand and it is far easier to get jammed up, too. A one-handed backhand is more versatile and you will be a better player by incorporating it into your game.
The word "emotion" should leave your vocabulary. Tennis can be frustrating and you may feel tempted to hit the ball as hard as you can. A frustrated tennis player tends to hit balls out long or nail them in the net. You need to keep a cool head and forget any lost points. Don't lose control of a match due to your emotions.
Spin is everything. Now this is a hard one for people to learn, but spin is what makes the difference between a novice just hitting balls around, and someone who is a serious threat on the court. The key to generated topspin or backspin is in the follow through. If you do not follow through on your shots, then you will be hitting the ball flat and it is more likely to sail long. Plus, with spin, you can disguise your shots more and catch your opponent off guard. It is a potent weapon in anyone's tennis game.
Tennis can be an enjoyable, blood pumping sport. You can improve your cardiovascular capabilities and coordiation. Follow these six tips and you will be off to a winning tennis season. Watch your opponent crumble against your winning tennis strategies.

Paramount Pictures - Get To Know The Overview Of Paramount Pictures
Owned by Conglomerate Viacom, Paramount Pictures Corporation was founded in the year 1912. The founder Adolph Zukor of Famous Players Film Company decided to make feature films that would fulfill the demands of immigrants. By the mid of next year he made five successful films. In the same year Jesse L. Lasky founded Lasky Feature Play Company and hired Cecil B. DeMille for his first movie "The Squaw Man".
Both the production companies sought help from Paramount Pictures to release their movies. Paramount Pictures was a new company at that time and was a unification of many small firms by W. W. Hokinson. The idea was cherished and the new company, Famous Players-Lasky, got a good start. Lasky and his brother-in-law, Goldfish became in charge of the production, along with DeMille.
Hiram Abrams was responsible for the distribution where as Zukor made plans for the development of the company. The company soon touched great heights. In 1916, Zukor decided to talk about the merging of the three companies with Lasky and Hodkinson. Public can take guided tour into the Paramount Studios situated in Hollywood, California.
"Famous Players in Famous Plays" was the first slogan of the company made by Zukor. He was the man behind successful actors like Douglas Fairbanks, Rudolph Valentino, Mary Pickford, Wallace Reid and Gloria Swanson. Paramount Pictures were the first to introduce the concept of block booking.
This meant that if a particular firm wanted to buy the rights of a particular actor, they were also required to buy the other productions of Paramount Productions for that year. This concept proved to be a huge success and boosted the company's sale.
Paramount had huge success under the leadership of Zukor. He is the man responsible for building number of theaters which had nearly two thousand screens altogether. He also had big investments in radio and in 1926 he gained control over the Balaban & Katz chain. Barney Balaban became the president and Sam Katz handled the Paramount Publix theater chain.
The company's name, Famous Players-Lasky was changed to Paramount-Publix Corporation, in 1927. Due to the achievement of Publix theater chain the name was changed to Paramount-Publix Corporation in 1930.
Due to the enormous expansion projects, the company was facing bankruptcy and by 1932 Zukon left all his old partners behind .A bank reorganization team, consisting of Otto Kahn and John Hertz took over the company but kept Zukon in the company. After dealing with bankruptcy, the company was named Paramount Pictures, Inc. and Barney Balaban became the chairman.
Many actors, actresses and singers were roped in and on a yearly basis; the company was producing nearly seventy movies a year. They also tried their hand at cartoon and the two characters, Popeye the Sailor and Betty Boop became an instant hit.
The company's production went down to twenty movies a year and so the company decided to end it in 1940 as the government was having problems with block booking. While the company was making an effort to attract audience during the World War II, the Federal Trade Commission and the Justice Department reopened the case, U.S. vs.
Paramount Pictures and the Supreme Court ordered the split of the company into two. Due to the loss of theater chains, the position of Paramount Pictures was very unstable and the company was sold to Gulf and Western Industries.
In 1970, Paramount collaborated with Universal Studios to form Cinema International Corporation.
They started producing for television. After the release of movies "Grease" and "Saturday Night Fever", the interest in movies were back again. Paramount Pictures began making albums when they purchased rights for Paramount Records. Cinema International Corporation became United International Pictures, in 1981, which was renamed as Paramount Communications in 1989.
Paramount became a prominent name in Hollywood once again and gave tough competition to its rivals. Some survived by moving to another place like Warner Bros. and some closed down like for instance RKO.

Paris - The Perfect Paris Vacation Apartment
Short term Paris vacation rentals allow families to live like locals. The simple pleasures such as going to the market and cooking meals, exploring and relaxing on your own schedule are just a few of the benefits associated with booking your own Paris vacation apartment. The key is to book at least 3 months preferably six months in advance. I know this sounds usual but savvy Paris vacationers know that prime apartments are booked far in advance or high season dates such as Easter, June and Christmas and New Years.
You will have to forgo standard hotel niceties such as concierge and, daily housekeeping. If you want a Paris apartment but cannot imagine making your own bed and you need the services of a concierge not necessarily daily but want someone to call for those pesky Paris emergencies, consider renting with Paris Luxe Apartments, this agency caters to the affluent vacationer not willing to forsake luxury in an apartment.
With an agency, one phone call, will get you access to a range of choices. If you do not need luxury than consider Book Your Paris Apartment, not a luxury agency but offering a portfolio of value focused Paris apartments for rent. The weekly rates are competitive and the apartments do not include any amenities. Renting a Paris apartment directly from the owner might be cheaper, but you will have to do without the objective viewpoint and the advice that an agent might offer and of course you will have less recourse if something goes wrong. If you are determined to work with the owner directly, Home Away has a searchable database of vacation rentals. Craig's List, recognized by everyone is an ideal resource for vacation rentals listings. For a real money saver, consider swapping with other home owners. Make sure that you develop a relationship with your booking agent. There is no such thing as a dumb question so ask about noise level, neighbors, the safety of the block. Another good thing to do is ask for testimonials or to speak to person who has not only visited the apartment but ideally spent a couple of days there. If you like to to take hot one hour showers and there are four other people in your group, is your shower realistic expectation?
The most requested district or arrondissement in Paris is the 6th also known as St.Germain des Pres.
Savvy dwellers of Paris Vacation Apartments know to reserve a Paris apartment, six months and sometimes even a year in advance. The first to go are the coveted 2 bedrooms/2 bath which are ideal for families of 4. Many Paris apartment owners charge additional euros to utilize the sofabeds so even if the apartment says sleep 6,don't be surprised if you will have to pay additional for the extra towels and linens.

Play The Money Game - Secrets Revealed On How To Make Healthy Income By Playing Online Games
The year 2007 witnessed a remarkable growth in online gaming industry. A recent survey showed 217 million people worldwide play online games. Another survey titled "Kids & Gaming" found that kids of all ages in the United States are spending more time playing video games today than they did two years ago. According to the survey, this trend is particularly pronounced for online game play.
The survey also found that half of the kid gamers are "light users," playing five hours a week or less, with the other half of the players comprised of medium, heavy or "super" users, at 6 to 16 more hours per week.
What makes online games so special?
The phrase "online game" alone bring hundreds of images in our mind: excitement, thrill, challenge and not to forget the bright, colorful and vibrant graphics.
Challenging other people is paramount and important for a game player. The most vital features of a game are those that arouse more gamers to play and the challenge it provides. The best way of making a game more challenging is to make it available for other game players and for them to play directly with each other. As you can guess every move the computer makes, it becomes easier to win once you understand the regular patterns the computer makes. On the other hand, in multiplayer games you get to play with and against other gamers, and each time you play with a new person, you face a different type of challenge.
Keeping this aspect in mind, the game developers have come up with a new category of games. This category is Massive Multiplayer Online Game or MMOG and allows millions of players to connect and play the game simultaneously via the internet.
In these days there are some online games that have servers all around the globe connected to each other, allowing gamers to interact and play each other from every place of the globe.
Another important factor to be remembered is that these games do not have an end point in the game. They are made in such a way that the game goes on and the characters within it develop like real life.
Online games are poised to be one of the biggest recreation activities in the year 2008. As the human mind is obviously fascinated by the excitement, challenge, achievement and the opportunity to prove oneself better, these games capture the fantasy of young and old alike as an enjoyable, relaxing way to pass the time.
Let 2008 begin with more exciting and challenging games for players. That's all for now as it is time to play another new game.

The museum, which was built in the early 1900s, is somewhat of an exhibit in its own right. Some locals believe it may be haunted. Actually, the impressive displays could keep you off the streets for the entire day.

My Favorite Course
I read this feature regularly, So I’m excited to contribute not one but two of my favorite courses. I even have a theme: one course I play when I travel and the other course I play when I, well, leisure. On the travel side, it’s the Plantation Preserve Golf Course in Plantation, Florida. It was designed in part by Robert von Hagge, one of the creators of Doral’s Blue Monster. The course is breathtaking, and it’s completely surrounded by preserved wetlands, so it’s not uncommon to see a hawk or a heron watching as you tee off. There’s a mile-and-a-half-long walking trail for nature lovers, and it goes right through the course. Thankfully the fairways are wide and the trails are far enough away that my sometimes-wild drives aren’t likely to nail anything that walks or flies. I also like that both nines start with par fives—that can be a real confidence booster.
We’re about to begin shooting a new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, which means my golf time is about to become limited. Any free time automatically falls into the leisure category. That’s when I hit my other favorite course: Weddington Golf, a par three in Studio City, California. I really enjoy carrying just a few clubs and working on my approach shots from a hundred yards out. And thanks to my golf teacher, Ed Coleman over at Rancho Park in Los Angeles, that’s the best part of my game. Ed is ninety years old and has hammered home my most important swing tip: Keep everything simple.
Larry David takes the exact opposite approach. He’s technical, and he knows so much about the mechanics of the golf swing. He’s always working on his setup and will just toss out random tips to me: “Put your arm here and then straighten this leg…. ” Larry’s got a lot of game, and without a doubt he’s the better golfer. He’s been playing a long time and gets out plenty. For me, a perfect round of golf is fourteen holes. Larry, on the other hand, will tell me he’s just played thirty-six and wants to go right back out and squeeze in eighteen more. That’s when I look at him like he’s from another planet.
The kid loved golf, sure. But he hadn’t seen anything yet
In the camera’s view screen is my nephew, Patch—my sister Joan’s son—posed in mock astonishment beside a sign that says CRAPO HILL SOLID WASTE RECYCLING PLANT. At fifteen, he is built like a fully extended ball retriever and his once-red hair has darkened to brown. We are stopped down the street from the Titleist factory in New Bedford, Massachusetts—a.k.a. Ball Plant II—killing a few minutes before our scheduled tour.
The public is prohibited from entering Ball Plant II, but we’re not the public. We are Patrick Kelley, junior golfer and would-be Needham High varsity player (“Even if he could just make alternate,” Joan whispers in the kitchen, beseechingly) and his string-pulling golf-journalist uncle.
Yes, I have spent my life in the game, but I came in through a side entrance. My father didn’t play, so my initial connection was all based on work and wages. I started in the caddie yard at Needham Golf Club, outside Boston, then toiled in the bag room and the pro shop and then …Well, did you ever have a period of your life unfold so quickly you are left unable to grasp its meaning? That’s what happened to me with the all-important childhood/youth/early-adulthood/middle-age period—which, let me say, has really whizzed by. The only theme holding it all together is golf.
Naturally I tried to pass my love of the game on to my own kids—not that I was pushing them, mind—but for whatever reason it failed to take. So when my sister asked me to give Patch, who was really showing a passion for golf, an immersion course in its complexities, I happily agreed. There was something in it for my ego, an opportunity to validate my life’s path. And all the better if a blood relation could be shown some VIP treatment—more legitimacy for me. Trunk full of clubs and hearts full of optimism, he and I hit the road on a June morning for a solid week of golf behind the scenes.
The Harmon Golf and Fitness Club in Rockland, Massachusetts, an innovative learning and practice center founded by Butch Harmon and his PGA-pro brothers, was our first stop. There Patch saw his first indoor-outdoor hitting bays, his first pro fitting rig and his first motion-capture system: a club-mounted sensor and an electrode-peppered vest that transposes your swing into graphic software. Along with that visual flood of information there were digital readouts of how well or poorly Patch was coiling his torso, shifting his weight, putting the club on path and generating power. Although his expressions of appreciation were confined to the limited lexicon of his age group (“Cool.” “Awesome.”), he seemed totally engaged with the process. Tom Cavicchi, perhaps the most sought-after golf instructor in New England, gave his blessing, saying Patch “will do some damage once he gets a little meat on his bones.”
Next stop was the Titleist factory (free boxes of Pro Vs when we turned in our safety goggles!), and from there we drove to Newport Country Club to watch a practice round of the U.S. Women’s Open, where Patch got Michelle Wie to sign his cap and listened politely as I conversed with a couple of LPGA players I am pals with. We also walked half the golf course and peeked inside the TaylorMade mobile equipment center.
That night, we headed across the Connecticut border to Foxwoods Resort Casino, where we were upgraded to a deluxe tower room and scheduled for a morning of lessons at the Lake of Isles Golf Academy. This was the second super-tech golf-improvement stop on our tour, with one-on-one swing diagnosis from the director of instruction, a young Australian by the name of Derek Hooper. The guest room they gave us was huge and felt newly renovated, with a long view of uninterrupted woodland. Patch did a seat-drop on the far bed and said something to the effect that this was the greatest hotel room he had ever seen and if his life ended right then it would all have been worth it.
On the other bed, sifting through notes and expense receipts, I thought about Patch’s gangly swing and what chance he’d have at golf tryouts come September. When I was his age, golf was a foreign country to me—I just wanted citizenship, and I was certainly never good enough to make any school team. Joan had been surprised that her son was suddenly so into the game. For the modern parent, this can mean your kid had just found another possible source of disappointment. Which is why it pays to be an uncle sometimes.
The next day we visited the William F. Connell Golf House & Museum, headquarters of the Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund and the PGA Tour’s Deutsche Bank Championship. Patch shook hands with Bob Donovan, who heads up the Ouimet Fund, and got shown around the exhibits, which are beautifully displayed in a compact space. Later we sat in a conference room with Eric Baldwin, director of the Deutsche Bank event, who gave Patch an inside view on how Tour events are run. “Maybe he can go into golf administration,” Joan later theorized.

Casa de Campo
To a man stranded in the desert with an empty canteen, the difference between natural spring water and a trickle from the tap is hardly relevant: It’s all good. To a Northeasterner in February, his home course entombed in ice and snow, the thirst for golf is just as desperate. At times like this, the vision of a white ball sailing into the deep blue sky over the turquoise sea appears like a mirage, lingering with the faint sound of steel drums and the scent of rum, just out of reach.
Golf in the Caribbean used to rely on that winter longing, when sunburned visitors were happy to play burnt-out courses with ancient carts and jaded loopers (ever met a Jamaican caddie who didn’t tell you he’s the best in the land?). But much has changed in the past decade, and these days announcements of new courses and luxury resorts seem to come every week.
The Dominican Republic, home of the first truly magnificent course in the Caribbean, Teeth of the Dog at Casa de Campo, has seized the lion’s share of this new bounty. Long one of the West’s poorest nations, the D.R., as it’s known, is enjoying a luxury boom that will vault it to the highest echelon of golf destinations, and not just in this region. Development on the island’s eastern coast has reached a breakneck pace; meanwhile, a hidden jewel has been produced on the north coast that is among the most dramatic and spectacular layouts anywhere. A recent trip to the Punta Cana area revealed a modern airport with nonstop flights from the East Coast on major airlines, roads that have been vastly improved, and massive new mega resorts under construction at Cap Cana and Roco Ki. These newcomers join the long-established Puntacana Resort & Club to yield a collection of diverse and aesthetically thrilling golf resorts, all with a welcome focus on exquisite accommodations and great service.
Casa de Campo
The destination that paved the way for high-quality Caribbean golf, Casa de Campo, remains at the head of the pack—for now. Teeth of the Dog, the Pete Dye creation whose signature sixteenth hole illustrates many of the “World’s Top 100 Courses” lists, still has loads of bite and requires a reliable draw to post a respectable score. Dye’s ubiquitous waste areas and swarming bunkers greet you on the first four holes, and the wind and ocean join the fray at the fifth. Number eight plays to a blind green—over which, on my last visit, I boldly airmailed a shot into the ocean. When I got to the green, a local boy handed me my ball, retrieved from the surf, in exchange for a fresh dollar bill. I felt an urge to tell him about my birdie at seven to wipe the smirk off his face, but when my chip dropped in he gave me a polite round of applause, no extra charge.
The seven-thousand-acre Casa de Campo, the model for the huge new developments ninety minutes up the coast, also includes the Links Course, an inland track with lots of waste areas and lakes, and Dye Fore, which plays on the ridge of the Chavon River and sets up a number of blind shots and challenging stances, along with dramatic views and greens you might need a surveyor’s transit to read. Although neither reaches the rigor or thrill of their famous elder sibling, I have found both to be enjoyable and generally well-kept. The resort also has a world-renowned polo and equestrian center and can accommodate almost any sporting desire you might have, from shooting to tennis to deep-sea fishing. The new and stunning Cygalle Healing Spa has invigorating plunge pools and natural skin preparations cooked up on site. As an aging golfer, I never fail to use my aches and pains as an excuse to indulge in some serious pampering, and Cygalle’s eponymous manager and creator knows exactly what’s needed.
Ultimately, what Casa de Campo has lacked is a world-class hotel. That should change next year, when Four Seasons is scheduled to open a two-hundred-room facility. Until then, the main lodging option at the resort is villa rentals, and although the in-house program for them offers good properties and a range of services, you need to be careful and pick your villa or you might not like the one you’re assigned. Another option is to book through a private agency, such as Villas Caribe. You get what you pay for, and if you’ve come in search of great lodging (yes, some of the villas are beyond spectacular), it can get expensive very fast. The beach options at the resort are limited and not in the same league as those at the other resorts, but after a day spent navigating Dye’s waste areas and bunker complexes, sand is usually the last thing I want to see.

The Florida Sand Belt
I’m standing on the fourth tee of the Pine Barrens Course at World Woods Golf Club near Brooksville, Florida, and half of everything I see is sand. To the right of the fairway, a vast wasteland juts into the grass, as if the entire hole has suffered a violent rupture and begun to sink into some sort of netherworld. It’s striking to behold and clearly hazardous to play from—yet I’m aiming my drive right over the heart of it.
From centuries-old British links to modern-day masterpieces such as Sand Hills and Pacific Dunes, sand is the secret ingredient of great courses. Entire regions have become synonymous with golf simply because they possess the kind of deep, sandy soil that is ideally suited to the game. When we think of sand in Florida, we think of beaches or bleached white bunkers, not entire eighteens created on canvases of sand. But when I lived in the state I was surprised to discover that many of its most interesting courses are located in the central part of the peninsula, away from the seaside resorts and often in small towns or other out-of-the-way spots. The reason, I came to conclude, is simple: These courses are built on sand.
Central Florida is ridged by a series of dunes that two to three million years ago were islands of scrub surrounded by ocean. These spines extend for miles, from north to south, and crest at more than three hundred feet above sea level—serious elevation by Florida standards. They retain distinct local ecosystems and bottomless amounts of sand. Compared with all of the loamy, two-dimensional courses scattered across the state, these sandy layouts make for an adventurous brand of golf. Three ridges in particular—moving from west to east, the Brooksville, Lake Wales and DeLand Ridges—feature the kind of firm, fast-drying terrain that has produced some of Florida’s most exhilarating courses.
The Brooksville Ridge
Located an hour’s drive north of Tampa, Brooksville is a quiet town known for its limestone quarries and its proximity to some of the state’s best river and Gulf Coast fishing. It became a hotbed of golf in 1993, when the thirty-six-hole Tom Fazio–designed World Woods complex opened about ten miles outside town. The two eighteens, Pine Barrens and the parkland-style Rolling Oaks, lie near the southwestern end of the Brooksville Ridge, a trail of ancient sand hills that stretches for more than thirty miles. Pristine forests of longleaf pine and live oak surround the courses. The aforementioned fourth hole at Pine Barrens demonstrates how ubiquitous sand is to the area. The option from the tee of this 494-yard par five is either to play safely left of the gaping waste bunker or drive over it, setting up a shorter approach to the green. Each time I’ve played this hole, however, I’ve pulled my drive to the fat of the fairway, an almost autonomic bailout in the face of a harrowing hazard.
Pine Barrens is Fazio at his stylistic best—playing the course is an exercise in living on the edge. Here, the architect, who is sometimes criticized for creating postcardlike holes that place more emphasis on aesthetics than on strategy, slashed open the earth and created multiple angles of attack. Drives that hug the long waste area right of the fairway on the par-four eighth, for example, set up a short, clear view of a shallow green that fishhooks into the barrens; drives played more conservatively to the left yield a longer approach that must carry a deep tongue of sand protecting the front of the green. Both the par-five fourteenth and the par-four fifteenth have split fairways divided by scrub depressions, the latter offering a chance to carry the chasm and drive the partially hidden green.
Just two miles west of World Woods and possessing similar terrain is the Dunes Golf Club. Apart from the sand, the most striking thing about the routing is that it features more than fifty feet of elevation change. Arthur Hills, who designed the Dunes in 1988 and returned earlier this year to renovate it, once told me this was one of the best inland sites he’d ever worked with, and in the last two decades blessedly little about the surrounding property has changed. Plans for houses to be built around the course never materialized—this is a remote part of Florida—so it remains an isolated trek through an unspoiled landscape of longleaf pines, turkey oaks and blowout bunkers (which, despite rumors that they were caused by practice bombing missions during World War II, were created naturally and in some cases enhanced by Hills). “It’s always been one of my favorite courses,” Hills says. “I try not to have favorites, but that site is so gorgeous—the sand and the dunes. The course pretty much lies on the terrain.” Hills’s fondness for the Dunes is so strong that he even tried to purchase it in the mid-1990s. “We were thinking that we wanted to develop a kind of Pine Valley of the South,” he explains, “a place where people from all over would come and stay and play.”
